What is the best travel route to Sweden?

Sweden is becoming increasingly popular as a holiday destination. If you are travelling to Scandinavia for the first time, we want you to know that getting to Sweden from central Europe is not that difficult.

To help you get started, we have mapped out some options for you to travel smoothly to Nygård Cabins.

BY CAR

You can drive all the way to Sweden via Germany and Denmark.

From Belgium or the southern Netherlands, you should count on a travel time of two days.

We hereby give you two possible routes with somewhat fewer kilometres and more rest time.

Ferry Kiel - Gothenburg

A ferry leaves from Kiel in Germany each evening for Gothenburg. After dinner, overnight and breakfast, you will arrive in Gothenburg in the morning. From there it's a 4-hour drive to Sunne via the E45. You can book this ferry via StenaLine.

Via Copenhagen

From Puttgarden in Germany, you can take a ferry to Rødby in Denmark. The crossing takes 45 minutes, just enough to stretch your legs and have a coffee.

You continue via Copenhagen and the Øresund Bridge to Malmö in Sweden. From Malmö, it's another 7-hour drive to Sunne via the E45.

When we drive from Belgium to Sweden, we usually spend the night just past Hamburg.

BY AIRPLANE

Sunne is located in central Sweden, making us easily accessible from Oslo, Stockholm and Gothenburg.

Many guests like to combine their trip to Sunne with a visit to Stockholm, but Oslo is closer and also highly recommended!

Oslo

From Oslo Gardermoen airport, it is a 2.5-hour drive to Sunne, via a scenic road through forests and past lakes. In winter, we recommend taking the motorway, which can increase your travel time to 3.5 hours.

At the airport, you can rent a car. In Norway, car rental is slightly more expensive than in Sweden.

From Oslo, you can also take the train to Karlstad and transfer there to Sunne. In Sunne, you can rent a car inexpensively. Check www.sj.se for train schedules and contact us if you wish to rent a car in Sunne.

Gothenburg

From Gothenburg Lantvetter Airport you'll drive 4.5 hours to Sunne via the E45 motorway. A smooth connection, even in winter.

At the airport you can inexpensively rent a car or take the smooth train to Kil, where you can change trains to Sunne. In Sunne you can rent a car at an affordable price. Check www.sj.se for the train schedule and contact us if you want to rent a car in Sunne.

Stockholm

From Stockholm Arlanda Airport, it is a 4.5-hour drive to Nygård Cabins, via the E18 motorway to Karlstad and then the E45 to Sunne.

At the airport, you can inexpensively rent a car or take the train towards Karlstad, where you can change trains towards Sunne. In Sunne, you can rent a car at an affordable price. Check www.sj.se for the train schedule and contact us if you wish to rent a car in Sunne.
