Animal fun week in Sweden

Are you looking forward to a relaxing family holiday? Are animals a big hit with your kids? Then discover our proposal for a beastly fun week at Nygård Cabins!

Day 1: Coming home to Nygård Cabins

You can check in to your holiday home from 3pm. Time enough to explore the surroundings for a while and meet our two fluffy cats Gunnar & Gustav. These two brothers are the biggest cuddlers and will definitely come and greet you. Our chickens are also super-social and always enjoy a visit to the stable.

Take a walk around the estate and maybe discover deer in the meadow along the way. In summer, the entire forest is full of berries. Pick wild raspberries and blueberries and eat your tummyful of healthy sweets!

Day 2: Petting moose

An hour's drive from Nygård Cabins you can visit a real moose park. You get a guided tour in English and can admire the moose up close and even pet them.

On the way back, be sure to drive past Lysvik and go for a swim in the beautiful lake Fryken. After such a pleasant dip, an ice cream at Mormors Glasscafé undoubtedly tastes even better!

Day 3: Cuddling alpacas

At the alpaca farm, you will not only be surrounded by alpacas, but you can also admire silky hens, peacocks, guinea pigs and cats. Book a guided tour or a walk with the alpacas. Taste the homemade cake during a cosy picnic in the garden.

Near the farm, in Bäckalund, you will find a beautiful bathing place with a 70-metre sandy beach. Here you can also use the barbecue area, so be sure to bring your picnic too!

Day 4: Playing amidst the rabbits

In the centre of Sunne you'll find Sundsbergs Gård, a unique place for young and old. You'll find museums, an art gallery, a shop, a café and a petting zoo. Here, the youngest can play in the garden among the rabbits and chickens while parents enjoy yet another fika break in the sun.

Haven't played enough yet? At the lake in the village centre you will find a large playground, with even a pumptrack and skate camp.

Day 5: Helping out on the farm

Anyone over five can join in for a morning at Södra Bergsgården's farm. How about feeding sheep, collecting eggs in the henhouse, cleaning out the rabbit house, watering cows, grooming horses, riding the tractor? Or have you ever tried yoga with lambs? This is paradise for every farmer-to-be!

Day 6: Romping around at the zoo

In Karlstad, Mariebergsskogen is the mecca for children! In this beautiful park you will find a zoo, playground, mini-golf, nature centre, tourist train and hiking area with bird towers. The zoo is home to all kinds of Swedish landraces, such as cows, ponies, pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits, ducks, ...

Relax on one of the cosy picnic benches or treat yourself to a tasty Swedish waffle.

Do you still have energy left? Then be sure to visit Karlstad with its cosy shops and restaurants. Or take a trip across the river on the boat bus!

Day 7: Walking with huskies

In winter, you can go on a beautiful sleigh ride with the huskies here. But also in summer, you can meet the huskies in the kennel. Feed them and cuddle the puppies. If you are strong enough, maybe you can go on a husky walk yourself!

You're back in Lysvik here, so maybe you fancy another one of those tasty ice creams from Mormor's Glass Café? Or treat yourself to a cosy dinner at Frykens Pärla overlooking the lake?
